Since we live in the country with no place for the kids to ride their bikes, when we can we load them and their bikes up and take them to the school where they can ride to their hearts content. Last Saturday we did this for the first time since last Fall and they had fun. Laney backtracked a little on her bike riding progress and was not very confident at first, but she is quickly remembering. Caleb is going to have the strongest little legs I think, he can pedal non-stop, up hills, you name it and never stop or get tired.
This post is not about budgeting but on a side note, since we started really limiting our "fun money" or entertainment money, little outings like this have become much more the norm at our house. I have to say that I much prefer these family times together as to what we were doing before. For example: Instead of driving 30 minutes to the movie theatre (gas money spent) and spending atleast $20 for tickets plus another $15 for snacks, well, this trip cost us the gas to drive 3 miles from the house. And thats it. We spent a fun afternoon outside, together and interacting. NOT saying movies are bad, we will still go, but we really enjoy these simple times alot and don't feel deprived in the least!
