Road Tripping

A couple weeks ago Ricky took a 4 day motorcycle trip to the mountains with a group from here. Since Daddy was gonna be gone for a few days, the kids and I decided it would be perfect timing for a road trip. So, one Thursday afternoon we left right from picking Laney up from school and pointed the van westward and off we went. From Thursday afternoon to Saturday afternoon we were able to see and visit so much family. It was great. The kids slept most of the way to Memphis and once we got there we went straight to Pepaw and Memaw's house for the night. There we spent the night visiting and catching up with my grandparents. My Aunt Frieda stopped by that evening to see us and then me and the kids called it a night and tucked ourselves into Mamie Marie's queen size bed for the night. We must have been tired because we all slept through the night.

The next morning we got up and headed out to meet cousin Katie, Taylor and little Blakely for breakfast and let the kids expel some of their boundless energy in the confines of Chick-Fil-A (YAY!) playground. After a visit over breakfast said our goodbyes and strolled through Target to pick up a few things before heading back to the Grandparents house for lunch. That afternoon my cousin "Cowboy Rusty" came by and saw us. Laney and Caleb loved him and I think Laney had a bit of a crush on him. Lol!

By then it was time for us to say our goodbyes and begin heading South. Somehow I never got my camera out while we were in Memphis so I have no pics to go along with those visits. We left Tennessee right at naptime for the kids (always a good time for travel, so they can snooze) and hit the very bumpy, wretched road to Oxford, MS. I do not know why Mississippi can not do something to their roads. Lets just say that leg of the journey couldn't end quickly enough.

Love this cousin picture

We made it to Aunt April and Uncle Scott's house as the kids finished their naps. We had such a good time while we were there! And this time I remembered to take pictures. While we were there we ate the largest pizza I have ever seen (lol!) and it was delish!

Bedtime stories

Bedtime kisses

3 peas in a pod

Splashy Reed!
Saturday morning April had to work so I got to take the 3 kids around town. Then we went to Aunt Aprils' work for a little carnival they were having where the kids all enjoyed face painting, paper airplanes, boats and popcorn.

Laney chose a butterfly on one cheek and a heart on the other, and flower on her arm...they got carried away :)

Both boys needed manly footballs

Cuties

Reed and his blue nose. :)

Love his short big boy hair

He loves watching people work in the yard. Maybe we can let him take a tractor ride next time he comes here !!

So many arguments over this lawn-mower. Think I know what everyone needs for Christmas!

Sweeties

Now we shall deviate from the story to tell you about Uncle Scott. He is afraid of girls. Especially little girls with water guns. He and Laney had a water gun fight right before we left. She nearly got the better of him!

Here he is shooting his poor innocent niece
And here he is prying the gun from her tiny small hands, that would never hurt a fly.

Using your wife as a human shield...shame!

And alas giving up and running away from a girl!

He was a good sport and we had such a great trip! Must do again soon!! As my Memaw K has always said someone just needs to buy a helicopter. Because I do not look forward to driving those Miss . roads again anytime soon. But it was/is worth it!
