There are years when birthdays go just as planned - and then there are the birthdays where you wake up with strep throat on your birthday and have to go to the doctor and get a shot :(
Caleb's 6th birthday he had a huge party with all of his boy buddies and then that night came down with the stomach virus. For his 7th he woke up with said strep and received the gift of "a shot in the rear end" as he said. LOL! We thankfully had a surprise trip planned for him, that he knew nothing about. We were glad we had not told him since it did not get to happen.
Instead we had a birthday party at home, and I think he felt just as special. He had his own dinner that he picked, birthday ice cream (he wanted that instead of cake), presents, balloons and yes, an annual birthday spanking - courtesy of Dad.
So our Caleb is 7. He is our "figure it out guy". Always happy, always bouncing, ready to please, smart and very kind-hearted boy. He loves to help his Dad do guy things, work with tools or build things. He loves to lay in Momma's lap and be scratched, sung to, and cuddled. He and his sister are the best of friends, playmates and he always wants to be with someone. He doesn't seem to be made to be alone, but revels in being with people, interacting and making people happy and smile.
He is our Caleb. All 7 tears of him - oh how we love our boy!
