A day at the Old 23

The weather is getting nice and we are entering our family's peak time! We just thrive when we are outside. The four of us all seem to have this desire to be in the fresh air and sunshine and explore. How wonderful is it that God designed us all differently and yet suited the 4 of us together with this like interest?!

Kids exploring the old church we came across
Its a lovely old structure and full of character
A few weeks back we took a 6 hour adventure exploring the very northern tip of the county. I had personally never been to this area before and we had a great day. Ricky knew alot about this history of this area and we all learned alot more later this week when I happened to have a meeting with a lady at my office who grew up in this area. She is working on her own adventure restoring some of the buildings into a really neat attraction for our county. That will be fun down the road to go back and see once she has completed her project.

Our attempt at a couple photo... :)

Part of the area includes a National Wildlife Refuge, so we had explained to the kids to be on the lookout for animals. We kept tally of what we saw: Coyote, Deer, Crane, Bald Eagle, and a Racoon.

There is a natural spring on the wildlife refuge. We assume it was named after someone who once had a homeplace near it. The kids thought it was so neat that we let them drink the spring water. It was the coldest water !

With the weather warming up with each passing week (at long last), we are looking forward to many more of these outings!

In the words of Elsa: The cold never bothered me anyway
In the words of someone snarky on Pinterest: Just kidding I hate winter
