Right before school started we ran away for a little short trip to Nashville. We spent just a couple nights there and enjoyed the time by taking the kids to the zoo and then visiting with Aunt Emily and family.
The zoo was pretty hot that day and somewhat crowded. It is no Memphis zoo but all in all we enjoyed it. It was my first trip to Grassmere. I enjoyed the historical home tour most of all. The kids like the meerkat exhibit and Caleb was so happy when we finally hunted down the elephants.
I really love taking the weekend 2 and 3 night trips. Its short enough that we don't do much planning or packing ahead of time and can be done fairly spur of the moment.
I'm already plotting places for the next time we have a long weekend!
