Bluegrass & BBQ

Summer trip #1 to the mountains. We went at the end of the school year (Ok, fine yes, we skipped the last couple of days of school). Aunt Lydia and Uncle James came on this trip too and we all enjoyed spending a few days away. (Except for when we rode the Fire Chaser Express-I'm not sure if Uncle James will ever want to go ride this again :)  and quiet frankly I am not a good rider either.

As soon as we drove in, we took advantage of the sun and the kids hopped in the pool. The weather was calling for lots of rain so we weren't wanting to miss any chance of missing some sunshine.

Caleb ~ When we travel anywhere, this boy becomes our tour guide. He gathers any and all travel brochures he can get his hands on and reads Every. Single. One.
Then as we drive around, he can call out to us all of the local attraction facts. It is amazing how his little mind works. He has probably read through over 50 of these brochures this year alone.  :)
While Caleb is reading travel guides, Laney is usually busy exploring. This trip (and others) she is usually found digging, or wading in the creek, hunting for "special rocks", fish or treasures. She's our country gal.

Our family

Times out hiking, and getting away like in these photos is Momma's favorite! It is so serene and calming and I love the time out of the busy fast paced world we get when we go out exploring together.
God's beautiful backgrop in these photos is amazing. What handiwork!!

We loved having them along to visit and vacation with. It was a little too crowded at the park for my tastes the first day, but we did enjoy the second day. As witnessed :)

Family Ferris Wheel Selfie :)
This is probably the last time Caleb will actually want to ride a carousel. I had a little sniffly moment watching him wave to me from the back of his "Stallion".

Dinner by Paula and setting out at the Island was once again high on my lists of favorites. At the top of my favorite list though is the same as always. Cherishing the time we get to spend away from the fast pace of life and thoroughly enjoying time together!
