Fullness of the season

Christmas comes but once a year...because who could live through more than that?! But in all seriousness, I look forward to this time of the year and get every bit as excited as the kids do. This week has been full of Christmas preparations ~ Saturday we got our first live tree and had every intention of going to the Living Nativity that we attend every year, but instead enjoyed a night of Craig's Pizza and then spent the evening at home decorating our tree.
Caleb had fun running around and around the trees

Laney was determined to find the "biggest most beautiful-est tree"

Mission Accomplished!

Pops and Mimi came over on Tuesday night and brought each of the kids an ornament for their Christmas trees in their rooms. Mimi started this tradition 2 years ago (I think) of coming over and decorating the little trees with the kids. This year Pops got to get in on the fun and Caleb keeps talking about when Pops fixed up his tree.

Our Elf has continued his mischievous raids at night, and while he occasionally acts up, he is in general a good Elf and he makes Laney so much easier to wake up in the mornings for school. We have found Co-Co going Coo-Coo for Fruit Loops, having a chat with Barbie by the fire, reading in an elf-sized chair and this morning, praying on Momma's Bible. When we found him praying, I asked Laney what she thought he might be praying for. She wasted no time in responding "He's praying to get out of this crazy house because it's tired him out!" and then she threw her head back and laughed. Laney's last choir practice was Wednesday night, before their Christmas performance on Sunday. This will be her first time to be up in front of the entire church and she is so excited because she has the only speaking part. (She does not get that from her Momma, as I would have been terrified.) Tomorrow night is the Deacon's Christmas dinner at church and Saturday we are looking forward to the Karnes family Christmas, and to seeing some of our Memphis family. So now, since I have skipped around like mad (hey, this blog isn't called Random for nothing!) I will call it a night.
